Apologies, readers of this xanga.

| TO: Honorable Secretary of Agriculture Washington, D.C
Dear Sir,
I have been evacuated from New Orleans because the flood took my old trailer and beat up car. I thought I might go into business to supplement my welfare check.
My friend over at Wells, Iowa received a check for $1,000 from the Government for not raising hogs. Right now I'm getting extra help from the government and Red Cross while I'm displaced but when that stops I want to go into the "not-raising-hogs" business.
What I want to know is, in your opinion, what is the best kind of farm not to raise hogs on, and what is the best breed of hogs not to raise? I want to be sure that I approach this endeavor in keeping with all governmental policies. I would prefer not to raise razorbacks, but if that is not a good breed not to raise, then I will just as gladly not raise Yorkshires or Durocs. As I see it, the hardest part of this program will be in keeping an accurate inventory of how many hogs I haven't raised.
My friend, Peterson, is very joyful about the future of the business. He has been raising hogs for twenty years or so, and the best he ever made on them was $422 in 1968, until this year when he got your check for $1000 for not raising hogs. If I get $1000 for not raising 50 hogs, will I get $2000 for not raising 100 hogs? I plan to operate on a small scale at first, holding myself down to about 4000 hogs not raised, which will mean about $80,000 the first year. Then I can afford an airplane.
Now another thing, these hogs I will not raise will not eat 100,000 bushels of corn. I understand that you also pay farmers for not raising corn and wheat. Will I qualify for payments for not raising wheat and corn not to feed the 4000 hogs I am not going to raise?
Also, I am considering the "not milking cows" business, so send me any information you have on that too. In view of these circumstances, you understand that I will be totally unemployed and plan to file for unemployment and food stamps.
Be assured you will have my vote in the coming election.
Patriotically Yours, Ima Taker
PS. please notify me when you are giving out more free cheese.
| ...you can't find the "new weblog post" button! lol It took me a little while. EDIT: another thing that indicates you need to update is when your profile says you're two years younger than you are now!
It's gettin close to a year so I thought I'd post something.
It's been a full summer! I got some meat rabbits to breed in April. It's been a lot of fun. At one time I had over 50 rabbits which may sound like a lot but is a low number for average breeders. I just wish feed didn't cost so much. Peter is always saying "Just let 'em graze!!" so next year we might try to graze some.

This year our garden was almost double in size and we used the space much more efficiently. We had so many cukes, after giving a bunch to the neighbors, we started selling them. Hopefully next year I can expand even more!

Two in one
About a month ago Peter, Nathan and I roofed the back part of our house.

The staging was 20 feet high.

If you do roofing regularly you'll see the mistake we made in this last pic.

| Hey y'all! Yeah, I'm finally updating. I can't believe how fast the summer has gone by! It was just spring. We've been keepin busy. Some random tidbits:
Been picking cukes, beans, carrots, lettuce and got our first tomato today.
Got three motorcycles working and one registered though it still needs to be inspected.(A 350 four, a 650, and a 550)
Went to Maine and played at a gospel fest. Got to see friends from last year!
Bought some sweet tools! We got most of the special tools for the 92 series Detroit heads, a Snap-On valve grinder, valve seat grinders(the grinding wheel type and the carbide cutters), a growler, a parts washer and lots more!
Turned my room into a recording studio(ok, well it still needs some work but it's gettin there! Almost everything is digital which makes it soooo nice cause you can edit it all on the computer.).
Went to NY/PA for a week. Had lots of fun, picked raspberries and black berries, went trap shooting, played ping pong and foosball, shot a lawnmower to death(now that was fun!), and got marched around by a former ALERT General!!!!! OOO RAH!!! This recruit is rea-... oh sorry!! He was wicked strict. JK lol
And more recently we went to NH for a few days and stayed at the B's house right on Crystal Lake! We got to ride on jet skis for the first time(thanks to the B's neighbor!!)! Lots of swimming. Got to go water skiing again too! Fun(sore muscles) fun(sunburn) fun(fun)!!
We're planning a full in-frame overhaul on the bus this September. Should be fun and if it helps our power, we'll probably plan a trip to California!
Please pray for Nathan and Dad. Nathan has some kind of infection and Dad has really been hurting with his back and hasn't been digesting much food.
Until next year, er, time,
Vincent
Oh, and don't forget to vote for Ron Paul if I don't blog till then...
